Granddad's 90th Birthday

Sunday we were able to be at the celebration for Brandon's Granddad's 90th birthday, which was a really special time for our family.
What an incredible legacy Mr. Pinson is leaving and has already left for his family.
This was a big year for the Pinson's as Brandon turned 30 in April and his dad turned 60 at the beginning of June.
I can't begin to imagine what all his eyes have seen, his ears have heard and his hands have touched.
He was one of eight children, grew up on a dairy farm near Lake Lanier, survived the Great Depression, married the love of his life as a teenager, served our country, retired from Lockheed, and still gardens and farms to this day.
He has 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
All those years of milking cows have created the strongest hands and grip I've ever seen on a man his age.
He has a distinct sparkle in those blue eyes and loves to play tricks and aggravate.
You better watch your back when Granddad is around!
He really is one of the sweetest, most generous people I've ever known and I am so blessed to have married into such a wonderful family where they stick together when times are tough and they value morals and work ethic.
I am so thankful for all that Granddad has taught Brandon.
Since they lived on the same farm, Brandon spent a significant amount of time with his Grandparents.
I am a firm believer that spending time with elders makes you a stronger and wiser person.
There is so much to learn from them.
Brandon inherited his love for agriculture and farming, tractors and fresh fruit and vegetables from a garden, and a simple way of life from his Grandparents.
He frequently shares stories about how he rode the tractor with Granddad almost every day that he was with him, how Granddad would pick him up from preschool, how they would go to the bad side of town and give those people fresh produce that he'd grown, how he made him eat the crust on his bread, how they loved to eat Little Debbie snacks and watch The Price is Right during lunch, how the grandkids would ride in the back of his Chevy S-10 underneath a camper top, and most importantly, how Granddad didn't put up with any back talk or attitude and how he disciplined him when he got out of line.
Those are memories and life lessons that are invaluable, and I'm thankful Granddad loved his family enough to provide for them and teach them.
 Grandmother.
It is so sad to see her in her current state where she no longer really knows who we are or where she is, and I know it is especially heartbreaking for Granddad to watch the woman he's been married to for all these years not recognize her surroundings.
 Granddad's younger sister-in-law, Cordelle.
Granddad's older sister, Eula Mae, also turned 93.
Whenever there's a get together here in the South, there is always lots and lots of homemade food involved!

What a great day celebrating family and legacy.
We are truly blessed!
