Celebrating Brandon

Over the weekend we were able to go "home" to celebrate Brandon's 30th birthday with family.
We worked Saturday until 12:30, then of course because we had plans to go out of town, we saw 2 emergencies and weren't able to leave the practice until about 3pm.
But, we finally made it out!
This was the first weekend Brandon has had off from dog walking duties, which is twice a day Saturday and Sunday, since early February.
This was also the first time we've been able to go home since Christmas.
We celebrated Brandon's birthday just the two of us at Bonefish Grill Friday night.
It was great to just have a date night and unwind a little.
Of course I got some cupcakes, too.
We also celebrated at work since his birthday was on a Friday.
We got together with family Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
Brandon's Dad will be 60 and his Grandad will be 90 in June of this year.
His Grandad likes to aggravate, can you tell?
I know I've shared about Brandon's Grandmother having Alzheimer's, and I'm sad to report that her condition is worse and worse with each visit we share with her.
Brandon's parents got him a blower attachment.
Over Spring Break Brandon's parents took a trip to France and Italy and they were sweet enough to bring us back some gifts.
They got me the most beautiful pearl earrings that I can't wait to wear.
Brandon and his Grandmother were able to have about 20 minutes of really precious time during which she called him by name repeatedly and remembered specific events during his life.
I am certain that was a gift straight from God.
I am so thankful that I happened to be close by with my camera in hand so I caught much of their conversation on video.
Then they took a brief nap together.
I have the greatest mother-in-law. A reader once commented that she loves her mother-in-law so much that she calls her mother-in-love. I thought that was the sweetest thing, so I think I'll start doing that, too.
Anyway, she was generous enough to divide her hosta for me again this year.
She and I share a deep love for gardening, so some of the best gifts she has given me have been from her yard.
Brandon's Papa celebrated his birthday the day after Brandon, which is also very special.
Brandon was on the phone with his brother in these pictures. Russell lives in Vancouver, BC, so we don't get to see him nearly as often as we'd like.
The only request Brandon had for his birthday was homemade strawberry ice cream, so that's what we had after lunch.
We had a wonderful weekend just visiting and loving on our family and celebrating birthdays.
You can't ask for much more than that!
