Our Master Bedroom Remodel

If you're coming by way of another blog, WELCOME!!
My followers are my friends and I would love to get to know you!
I've been meaning to share this post for a while, but I let it slip through the cracks somehow.
The d├ęcor of a master bedroom is very important to me.
Much like the rest of our home, I want it to be a sanctuary with soothing and relaxing colors and tones.
BEFORE: I loathed the color of the master bedroom when we purchased the house.
I do not see how anyone is this world could ever pick out such a color for any room, much less a master bedroom.
AFTER: The very first thing we painted the first week we lived in our house was this bedroom.
I could not stand one more second of that horrible color!
My Papa helped us add crown moulding to the trey ceiling and we took down the tacky metal blinds that had been left behind by the previous owners and replaced them with wide faux wood blinds.
We are saving up for a king bed and new bedroom furniture.
This was my bedroom furniture growing up and I treasure it.
But, I am 5'10" and Brandon is over 6'3" plus we have a Pug and a cat that sleep in the bed with us, so we just need a bigger bed eventually.
This bedroom suit will go to our upstairs guest bedroom, and hopefully to a daughter someday.
Because we will be getting new furniture I have done absolutely nothing with the walls other than paint them.
The lamps will be staying in the master bedroom, of course. I adore them. They are from TJ Maxx/HomeGoods.
I am completely in love with these pillows.
I found them at HomeGoods when we lived outside of Savannah.
Paint: This paint was a $5 find at either Home Depot or Lowe's several years ago. There was a 5 gallon bucket and apparently whomever purchased it wasn't happy with the color. Since then paint has become non-refundable. My mom found this paint and I'm glad she snatched it up!
Lamps: $50 each at HomeGoods
Coral Reef Pillows: HomeGoods
Tufted Chair and Ottoman: $260 total at HomeGoods
Blinds: Levelor Faux Wood (custom cut) from Lowe's.
Westmore Mini Chandelier: $100 at Lowe's.
Globes on the Overhead Light/Fan: $6 each Seeded Vanity Glass from Lowe's.
*We also installed a dimmer switch for the overhead light and I highly recommend doing that in your master, too! You can create the perfect ambiance that way.
So, this is what our room looks like as of now.
I'll be sure an update when we get our new furniture of course, but I don't know when that will be.
Plus, I want to remember it the way it looks now, too.

  16. The whole room lightens up because of your new wall paint! Great choice! It's a good thing that your husband didn't complain about the color choice for the wall because I think it's somehow too light for a guy. I also love your furniture choice, they're simple yet very appealing. I'm so impressed by the transformation! Congrats!

  20. I absolutely LOVE this color in the bedroom! It is great! I have been searching for a color for years and this is perfect, do you have any idea what the name of it is or the paint combination that they used to come up with it? Thank you!

  21. Your bedroom looks amazing now! I love the blue color you chose to paint the walls and the lamp is so cool! It looks like a coral reef or something. Your bedroom reminds me of a beach! The wood blinds look nice as well. I'm a big fan of faux wood blinds in the bedroom because I think they can really make everything look so dreamy!

  22. Hi Cherish, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your bedroom!!! I just chose the same color for my DR. It is so soothing & beachy. I'm getting ready to paint it aqua above the white chair rail & gold beneath. The room is currently red. I'm carrying the same theme into the LR since they are connected. Did you repaint the coral on the lamps? I'd love to find those lamps. (Please send name if you see it on bottom of lamp.) Everything in your bedroom is so crisp & I can almost smell the salt from the ocean. BEAUTIFUL! Thanks again for sharing. Blessings, Sher in SC
