Coastal Southern Kitchen Remodel

Our kitchen has been featured at: Moving Forward Staging & ReDesign, Dixie Delights, Taylor House Pinterest, & Sew Much Crafting Power Party Picks.
A big thank you to each of you!
Kitchen Before: I thought the finish on the cabinets was beautiful, but it simply wasn't my taste. I tried to convince myself that I could learn to love it; however, I kept going back to the vision I had for what I wanted my kitchen to look like.
These are close-ups of the original light fixtures after the cabinets were refinished. I am selling them...any takers?

DRUMROLL............
After: I am SO happy with how everything turned out!! It looks just how I dreamed it would! So thankful to have this room complete!
We had the cabinets refinished, which was quite the ordeal. Let me just say that if you are thinking of having it done, you better move everything-furniture and all out of the surrounding rooms. I'm still cleaning up dust and it was over a year ago!
With the lights on:

I love, love, love how the bar turned out! My Papa and I added the beadboard and painted everything white to match the cabinets and trim. I love those corbels.
I seriously can't stop staring at it! Do you just love when everything comes together the way you imagined it?! Some may think it's over the top, but I think it's perfect. I feel like this kitchen came alive with the brightening of the cabinets and that it feels so much larger now. I definitely have "Old South" taste and I love mixing it with fresh, new and coastal styles.
Paint Colors and Details:
Cabinets: Sherwin Williams Roman Column
Walls: Ivory Brown -originally a Valspar paint, but we got it in Porter Paint
Chandelier: ebay $109 with free shipping, not sure why they increased the price recently
Medallion: $50 Lowe's
Chalkboard: custom made by my mama (she sells them at her store, Mountain Soul, in Sautee-Nacoochee, GA)
Dishes: All are from Pottery Barn, Great White Collection and Starfish Collection (from 2005).  I can't say enough about the Great White Collection! They are heavy and durable and timeless. We have had dishes from Target and other brands only to have them crack, chip and break. These are tried and true and they last! I highly recommend these to folks who are registering! You can dress them up with accent dishes, but the white just goes with everything. *If you have a PB Outlet nearby you can get these dishes at GREAT prices! That's what I do. :)
*On a side note, I research the fire out of something before I make a purchase. I am that crazy person who spends months and hours reading reviews making sure I know as much about what I'm buying as possible. I am not hasty at all! So, you can trust me when I make product recommendations!

  3. Love it! Is that your only set of stairs that you can see or is there a more public-looking set? I love the way your stairs are kind of hidden! :)

    1. Thank you, Courtney!! It is the only set of stairs. I'm not sure how I feel about them being completely hidden. It's taking me some time to get used to it. I would have designed it differently had we built the house ourselves. Have a wonderful day! xoxo

  8. I'll tell you what. That is a thing of beauty right there. The white cabinetry makes it look so fresh and bright, just the way a kitchen should look. Let me ask though...If y'all paint the woodwork in the kitchen white, do you feel the need to paint the rest of the woodwork throughout the house white, or was it already white? I ask because I'm considering doing the same to our kitchen and the woodwork throughout the rest of the house. I know my husband is not looking forward to it, but it really brightens things up.
Your blog is darling. I found it through Sibi's blog (Pearls and Grace).

    1. Susan, how precious are you?!?! Thank you so much!! Okay, about the woodwork, I personally think it depends on how open it is and whether or not you like the contrast or would prefer a more seamless look. For me, a seamless look is best in our home because it is so open. Plus, I just love the fresh look of the white. Let me know what you decide to do!! I'm so happy that you found me through Sibi. I adore her. Much love and blessings!! xoxo

  9. IT. IS. GORGEOUS!! My taste must be your taste, apparently, because I wouldn't change a THING from your vision! I am thinking of decorating our next house with a coastal feel (I am from Northeast FL, afterall!) and it feels so homey :)

Your kitchen will definitely be my inspiration! You and Brandon have worked so hard and deserve something so beautiful! Congrats!

  14. Hey Cherish! I just love your blog; it's so uplifting! I emailed you to tell you that, but may have gone to spam. But please don't worry about emailing me back. I just wanted to encourage you. Also, I saw on one of your posts that you cook a lot of deer meat. Could you share your recipe? We have tons of deer meat from one my husband shot this past season, but I don't know how to cook it. All the best to you!

    1. Hey Whitney!! Thank you so much for your sweet words of encouragement and for introducing yourself. I will email you back. I always respond to emails-it may take me a bit, but I will. Your words were so thoughtful and meaningful that it would be wrong not to respond. So, thank you. I'll have to ask my hubby about the deer meat. He usually instructs me on that one, lol! But, I'll try to post some recipes for you! :) Lots of love and blessings! xoxo

  44. Hi Cherish, You did it again, Girl!!! You are so right about the freshness of the white kitchen! Love your accent colors of blues & aqua. The bar looks so much better with the bead board & corbels. You are so fortunate to have parents that can help out. The finishing touch is the beautiful small, just right, chandelier!
I am inspired to complete my kitchen with the same accent colors to match my DR & LR ocean, beach theme. Thanks again....Blessings, Sher in SC
