In the Land Of Cotton...

I haven't shared the pictures from our annual cotton photo shoot yet, so now seems like as good of a time as any!
***Also, we are heading to Guntersville, Alabama for a duck hunting trip this weekend (we've rented a cabin on the lake), so if there are any of you readers/followers who live in that area and are interested in meeting up-please let me know!! I would love to get together!***
I was pretty happy with how these turned out considering we've never hired a professional photographer for any of our photo sessions.
There is a lot of running back and forth to a tripod action going on, and usually some frustration and a few tears on my part.
But somehow we always manage to get a few good ones, and for that I am grateful.
In case anyone asks: my dress ($25) and cross necklace ($5) are from Forever21-got them in Charleston, SC
My boots are Tony Llama.
His shirt is from Academy Sports ($10) and his boots are Justin.
I love  good bargain!

  1. I think cotton fields are so gorgeous! I pass a ton on my drive home from SC to VA, and I'm so tempted to stop and just take pictures. I am loving your dress and can't get over how beautiful your hair is!

    1. Thank you so much!! You are so sweet!! I think they are gorgeous, too! I never ever tire of looking at them. I am a spring and summer person through and through, but knowing that the cotton will be blooming in the fall makes it worth changing the seasons. Some people get hyped up about the leaves changes, but all I care about is seeing that Southern Snow! :) xoxo

  2. I cannot believe you did those pictures yourself, they are so good!!!! And I agree about your hair, so perfect!!

Where do you come up with your decorating ideas? I just bought a house and I so missed out on that creativity gene!

    1. Thank you so much, Kristen!! So sweet of you!! As far as my creativity-I think it's just genetic. I am a true creative personality, which means I can't commit to just one thing. It's a double-edged sword, really. My mama is a fantastic interior decorator, I majored in fashion and design, a lot of the women in my family are super creative, too. I just get a vision in my head of what I want something to look like, and then a get to work on making it happen as inexpensively as possible. If I don't know exactly how to do something, I ask or google it, then I go for it. Trial and error, I guess.

Buying a house and figuring out how to decorate it can be very overwhelming, it even was for me. My advice is to take your time! Don't feel like you have to fill it up with stuff immediately. I can't count how many hours I've spent staring at blank walls waiting on a vision to come to me, but when it does it is worth it. You can find great things at low prices if you are patient and willing to just keep looking until you find exactly what you want. If you ever have questions or want someone to bounce an idea off of, let me know! I'll be happy to help you in any way I can. Sorry about the book I just wrote you, lol! xoxo

  4. Great pics! You did an awesome job! I figured someone was actually there taking them of yall. I would probably shed tears to having to run back and forth to a tripod and take them myself:) I'd meet up with ya if I lived closer to Guntersville:( We're in South Alabama in a little town called Troy:) My hubby will also be duck hunting this weekend (actually every weekend until season is out)on local rivers and friend's duck holes. I have heard Guntersville has some great duck hunting, so I'm sure your hubby will have a great time!

    1. Thank you, Kathryn!! We know exactly where Troy is!! Good luck to your hubby on his duck hunts!! We've heard great things about Guntersville, too, but I'm just afraid that it's been too warm/is going to be too warm for a fruitful hunt. We'll see, though. Have a great weekend! xoxo

  6. These are great! You are so pretty and love your hair... wish I could have long hair like that but it never grows past a certain length or it might but I get too frustrated. Love that you used a tripod and got such good pictures.

    1. Thank you, Megan! You are precious! I've never had short hair, but this is probably the longest it's ever been. I wish I could tell you that I have a secret to growing it out, but I don't. I do take biotin, but I've only started taking it in the past 6 months and my hair was long before that. I do think it helps, though. I rarely ever use styling products or heat tools, so maybe that helps as well. It does get super frustrating to deal with long hair all the time. It takes forever to wash it and dry it and it will never ever have any volume because it's heavy. Sometimes I wish I had the guts to do something totally drastic and different from the same old look I always have. Have a great weekend! xoxo

  9. Love the outfit you chose for pictures, especially the boots! I would love to get a pair of fun, bright colored boots like yours. They look great with the white dress but do you ever find it hard to match them with other outfits? jeans? thanks!

    1. Thank you, Allison! You are right, it can be tricky to match up outfits with bright colored boots at times, but as long as I don't wear patterns or red with the pink boots, they actually go well with a lot of outfits. I hope this helps you!! xoxo
