Callaway Gardens Fantasy in Lights

Russell's flight from Vancouver, BC came in around 12:30am on the 21st. For me that's Thursday night, but for some that's Friday morning.
We left the airport around 1am and got back home around 1:45am.
Brandon worked half a day Friday and we left mid-afternoon to drive over to Pine Mountain, GA for the evening.
I think it's the way they are standing, but Russell is really not that much taller than Brandon.
Brandon is a little over 6'3" and Russell is 6'5".
Pine Mountain is about an hour and 15 min. west of us, so it's not a bad drive at all.
The purpose of the trip was to take Russell to the Fantasy in Lights show at Callaway Gardens!
Of course, it had been sunny and it the 70s the entire week, then it rained on Thursday, and on Friday is was cold and super windy.
I think Russell brought that weather down here with him.
We had supper at the Country Kitchen Restaurant, which was really good.
The style of food is comparable to Cracker Barrel.
One of the best things about the trip was that some of our best friends, Phil and Meg, and our Godsons got to meet us and eat because they only live 15 min. from there.
Charlie had his eyes closed...but he did a wonderful job of coloring that Christmas tree!
They bring out a huge basket of biscuits and cornbread with muscadine preserves-so good!
I had chicken fried chicken with fried green tomatoes and macaroni and cheese.
Not healthy, I know, but this is some of my favorite Southern food and I rarely ever allow myself to eat it, so sometimes I splurge.
Poor Sam does NOT like the high chair and he screamed and cried through most of the meal, but at the end he came around and started playing peek-a-boo with his sunglasses.
These two pictures are off the internet because I wasn't able to take any from these angles because the traffic was so heavy.
We rode the Jolly Trolly through the park, which actually turned out to be quite nice despite the cold and wind.
The lights are really pretty, but if you want to go you need to call ahead or book online to make reservations.
If you would prefer you can ride through in your own vehicle, but I think it may take longer because of the traffic flow.
When you book your trip you can choose from the available time slots, which are in 1 hour increments.
It's extremely difficult to take quality pictures of Christmas lights while in a moving trolley.
By the end of the ride we were freezing to death, but happy just the same.
On our way home we drive through Greenville, GA, and the most beautiful home is located in downtown.
It's like something out of a movie when you see it in person!
As we were leaving we got an emergency call, so we had to stop by the practice on our way home.
We had a great time and really enjoyed the lights and are thankful Russell was able to experience it with us!
Merry Christmas Eve to each of you and your families!
"Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."
Matthew 1:23

  1. I love Callaway Gardens!!! When we lived in Columbus, it was my little escape! Their Christmas light show is one of my favorites...I like it better than Lake Lanier Islands.

So glad you are having a wonderful Christmas season!!! Blessings to you, sweet girl!

    1. I don't know why I forgot y'all lived in Columbus at some point! It has really grown and is actually very nice with lots of great shopping on the North side now. Even though we're from North Georgia-so close to Lake Lanier, I can't remember too much about the LLI Magical Nights of Lights. Maybe I should give it another try at some point. I am so glad your family is having such a wonderful Christmas, too!! xoxo

  2. I so would love to go to Callaway Gardens!I am jealous just a tad bit of you all! & those old little places look too cute & adorable :) What I would die for to see them in person! & the boys looked so adorable! They have gotten so big...

    1. You should come down and visit and we'll go sometime! It is really the most spectacular in the spring-the are well known for their gorgeous azaleas. The boys are growing like little weeds for sure! :) xoxo

  3. I live about 30 minutes east of Greenville and drive through there going back and forth to school. I love that house! They had the most beautiful Halloween/fall decorations too!

    1. That's so neat, Emily! I didn't get to see that house in the Fall, but now I'm just going to have to! Those folks have wonderful taste in decor! I had no idea you were so close! I hope you had a very Merry Christmas! xoxo

  4. I didn't realize you were so close now! I'm only 30 mins from Callaway, I went for a date a week or two ago and it was amazing. Love the show! Merry Christmas!

    1. Yes! We MUST get together at some point! What a fun date! Merry Christmas to you, too! xoxo

Last time i was there, we saw butterfly garden because my granny and papa wanted to see it and its not too far from where Sis lives. I really hope things are well your way and practice is going well! I had a few vet questions ( my puppy is quare or strange i cant figure it out!) Hope you have had a blessed Christmas! xo

    1. Merry Christmas to you, too, Suze!! Glad you're back! I was wondering what happened to you, lol! Callaway is known for their beautiful azaleas in the spring! I didn't realize your sister lived close to there. I thought she lived in Florida. Just email me your vet ?s at cherishanna@gmail.com! I hope y'all had a very blessed Christmas, too! PS-you know our best friend is Dr. Andrew verdin who owns Verdin Veterinary Services in Simpsonville. We highly recommend his practice-all of the vets there went to school with Andrew and Brandon and are very knowledgeable on all of the latest and greatest. Plus, they have very reasonable prices for the area.

I sure do love hearing from y'all-you make my day!
