Praying for Others

I don't have anything profound or prolific to say today, other than I spent a peaceful morning talking to God.
My words weren't gentle or poetic, but they were honest and real.
I voiced my confusion, my frustrations, and my concerns onto Him.
I admit I had a great deal of anger in my heart, but I learned a long time ago that it is okay to be angry with God.
The important thing is that we take our anger to Him rather than out on Him and that we run to him instead of turning away from Him.
And after some time I felt peace. I felt the Lord reminding me of this scripture:
"Say to those who have an anxious heart, “Be strong; fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you.” -Isaiah 35:4
But, I would be lying if I didn't admit that I am completely heartbroken at how America has turned it's back on God for the sake of being politically correct.
No matter who is running our country or what is taking place on this Earth, our God is greater than anything.
He has already defeated the enemy. The battle has been won.
As long as we have salvation in Christ we can rest in knowing we have an eternal home not of this world.
Our possessions are nothing compared to what is to come for God's people.
I am in awe when I look around at God's creation.
The beauty of an ever-changing nature and seasons reminds me daily that He is an incredible artist.
I found it interesting that we had the first real rain we've had in months yesterday and today.
I felt like the tears of the Lord were falling upon us, renewing us, refreshing us, reminding us that He is Sovereign.
He controls the weather and the tides.
He gave us a warning that trouble is coming in this life.
He gave us the handbook to prepare us for all we will experience in this life.
He is the alpha and the omega.
We need to continue to pray for our leaders.
And yes, I would feel that way regardless of who was in office.
It's our Christian duty to pray for others, from the lowly and the poor to the pretentious and wealthy.
From the janitors and garbage men to the lawmakers and elected officials.
This is what the Lord says our leaders are to be:
"For an overseer, as God's steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it. For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers..." Titus 1:7-14
That is what we need to pray that ALL of our leaders, at local, state and national levels should embody.
By the way, how cute is Lady in the window?
I am not trying to provoke an argument or offend anyone, so please do not leave comments that would suggest that.
I am simply writing about how I feel and what I feel our Christian duties are as prayer warriors.
If you did vote yesterday, thank you!
Just remember that our hope is not in Barack Obama, despite his campaign slogans, or was it in Mitt Romney.
Our hope is in TRUTH.
"First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way."
1 Timothy 2:1-2

  1. Thank you for this post. I too am just in shock. I am from the deep south too and I know so many people that were praying hard. So I could not help but ask Him why? I am concerned that we are in a country now where soon you will not be able to have a post like this. I love America and my heart is broken!

    1. Thank YOU for your words!! I am just as concerned as you are and my heart is broken, too. It's devastating, really. I know these things have to happen for the end to come, but I just couldn't imagine I'd see the things I've seen already in my 27 years of life. It's crazy. Praying for justice and righteousness to prevail! xoxo

    1. Thank you, Kathryn. I'm glad to know that others feel the same way. He is in control and He does have a plan for us. No matter when happens, or what we endure, He will carry us through it. I hope you have a blessed day! xoxo

  4. We just have to remember that God does everything for the good of those who do love Him. We did what we could by voting. It is ultimately in his hands. I think the bigger problem is not Obama himself, but the American people putting people's individual rights above what God says is right. Hang in there and keep the faith!

    1. Heaven is amazing. You need to start reading it today! You don't even have to read it from cover to cover, you can use it as a reference guide and look up topics at any point in time. I can't say enough great things about the book and it has taught me more than any church I've ever gone to about what we can expect Heaven to be like. Truthfully, I;m so excited to get there that I'm almost on the edge of my seat down here. Let me know how you are liking it! xoxo

  6. Dear Cherish,
Since last night I will admit to you that I have been angry, sorrowful, and very upset about the choice of who was elected as president. But I want you to know that just by reading your post you have helped me get over that rough hump and ponder the scriptures. You are so right, search the scriptures and everything will fall into place..Even though I am an AZ girl, Ilove everything southern. My family all hail from Texas and was brought up in that respectful god fearing way. Thank you and God bless you for your words of encouragement. And Paula Deen would be thrilled to have someone like you on her team..

    1. Dear anonymous-I truly appreciate your words. You have encouraged me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. God is going to carry His followers through this, but it is still heartbreaking to watch our country go down the drain. We just have to keep standing up for what it right and demanding justice and answers from our current administration. We need to stay on our knees in prayer, too. Thank you again, whomever you are, you have blessed me. xoxo

  8. Well said, Cherish! This is a hard time for Christians, but we have been complacent and allowed God and the Christian principles upon which our founding fathers established this country to be removed from everything. I begged God not to give us what we deserve, rather mercy and grace and another chance, but in His wisdom He knows so many are not ready yet or strong enough and need a harder lesson. I am so proud that my daughter is teaching her little ones discernment and how to stand in the face of adversity...but will that be enough??? I pray so.

    1. Thank you, Sue!! Your words are so wise and true. Thank you for sharing them here for me and other readers to absorb. Like you, I begged God in desperation to give us a second chance, a revival. How wonderful that your daughter has such a positive influence on those little ones' lives! I can imagine that you are so very proud of her. Thank you, again, and may God bless you and your family! xoxo

  9. This was perfect! In my full day of hardcore talks with God, I realized that we shouldn't complain like the Israelites did in the wilderness ( which cost them years), but focus on the lord and follow Him. We will pray for our country and our leaders no matter who it is. We want them to be blessed and to prosper! Thank you God for giving me such revelation today! If anything this whole experience will bring us closer to Him!

  10. Beautiful sentiment! Just what so many ears need to hear. No matter who the president is, he deserves our earnest prayers and to be lifted up to the One who is truly in control.
