Everyday Life

To all of my new followers and subscribers-thank you and welcome!!
I consider my followers my friends and I look forward to getting to know you!
I've been making some changes here on the blog, so bear with me please!
Random images from our everyday life during the fall include but are not limited to:
Mums blooming.
I got these mums when we lived in Daisy and they survived the move I'm happy to report.
My favorite day of every single month is the day my beloved magazine subscriptions arrive in our mailbox!
This is the buffet my mama is refinishing for us in a gray wash.
I can't wait to see the finished product!
This picture was clearly taken in an antique store.
Even when it's 60 degrees outside we are freezing!
I think we must be part lizard, so we've built a few fires already.
Do you notice the oyster shell mirror? It was made by yours truly and I will have a tutorial soon!
High school football is still in full swing.
The local high school had Homecoming last week and we were happy that one of our friend's daughters won queen this year.
We've been through bow season.
Now it's gun season, but Brandon still uses a bow when he hunts near our house because their are other homes nearby, too.
And men think women overdo it when it comes to fashion?
Oh, and he has yet to kill a deer.
I need some deer meat, mister!
We made a humongous pot of homemade vegetable soup.
It lasted us several days and then I put some up in the freezer for later.
It will be nice to just thaw out a good supper in the future when I'm too tired to prepare a meal!
My husband makes homemade cornbread while wearing overalls.
Enough said.
He makes cornbread much better than me.
I know this is so un-Southern of me, but I admit that I've never really liked cornbread.
Well, I just don't care for cornmeal, actually.
I think that's why I can't make it good.
But, I liked this pan. It was really moist and not too done.
But, I make a really good pumpkin pie, so that counts for something!
Last week we had highs around 85 and I loved it!!
Cold weather and I are not friends at all.
Naturally, I saw it as an opportunity to renew my tan.
I had plenty of company!
This is Brandon speaking to one of our local state representatives, Austin Scott-R, at his weekly Kiwanis Club meeting. This picture was printed in our local newspaper.
We voted early!
Being conservative small business owners, you can guess who we voted for.
My hair started out in a really cute braided bun, but it started unraveling before I could get Brandon to take a picture of it.
We also had our local Chamber of Commerce host a Business Expo to which all members of the county and community were invited.
It was sort of like a meet and greet for the public and local businesses.
We had a great turnout and hopefully gained some new clients!
Sanford is the sweetest angel.
Rockabye Puggy...he likes for me to sing to him.
It melts my heart.
Sweetie is our rescue dog from our farm in Daisy.
She has come such a long way in that she trusts us now, well, she is still skittish around Brandon, but she really loves me to death.
I sing to her and kiss her, too.
Lady Vol is our rescue cat from a drug house in Athens.
She will require medication for the rest of her life to ease her anxiety from the things that happened to her.
How in the world anyone could have abused either of these dogs or this orange tabby as a kitten is beyond me.
I shouldn't say it, but I think there may be a special place in you know where for people who abuse animals and kids.
Clearly you can see that the Lord led them to us, and now they are loved deeply, cared for greatly, and spoiled rotten!
A sweet and sleepy Bayla. She can melt your heart with her face!
Part of our zoo watching Hart of Dixie-we love that show!
My handy husband installing an under the cabinet radio/ipod system.
Our dogs playing in the yard.
The General Beauregard-he is our German Shorthair Pointer-Lab hybrid.
Sanford in the lounge chair catching some rays.
Mack napping on the deck...have you lost count of how many animals we have?
"We are thankful our Daddy is a vet who takes such good care of us and dresses our wounds."
I am so thankful for this beautiful rain we are having on election day.
I'm also thankful that I voted early so I don't have to get out in this rain.
We have been in dire need of rain here, so these drops running down the window are much welcomed.
Please go out and exercise your right to vote today.
It is an honor and privilege to be able to vote for our leaders.
Many people have served this country, fought and lost their lives so that we can have the freedom and the rights we have.
Let's show our gratitude by hitting the polls today.
I would also ask you to pray earnestly and get educated on issues most important to you before you cast those votes.
God Bless America!

"Let every person be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God."

  1. Amen on all of this! THINK about who you vote for, right? LOVE all of y'all's sweet animals! Precious! Love your oyster shell mirror too! We're off to vote here in a few minutes. Have a great day!

    1. Yes!! Thank you so much!! We certainly have a house full!! Good for you for getting out and voting!! :) Have a blessed day!! xoxo

  2. Your sweet animals melt my heart! I have a huge soft spot for any animal, but especially those that have been abused or neglected. It's so hard to imagine such cruelty, but it feels so good to have them leading fulfilling happy lives with their "parents" God chose for them!

    1. Thank you, Megan!! We love them dearly! You are so right about God choosing their parents. I truly believe He does!! Have a blessed day! xoxo

  3. I didn't realize y'all had so many animals...they are very lucky to end up with you two and yes I agree with your comment about someone abusing animals and kids...it's just not right.

Oh and I don't like cornbread either and I am org. from AL, go figure!

    1. Yes, we have a house full! Thank you for your sweet words! Finally, another southern soul who doesn't like cornbread, lol! Now I don't feel so guilty about it! Have a blessed day! xoxo

  4. What a beautiful view out your doors. I love slightly rainy fall days!

    1. Thank you, Erin! A day like that was very refreshing. We are having another one like it today, too. Very unusual around here! Have a blessed day! xoxo

  5. LOVE the new blog look!

Looks like y'all have been busy :) Love the outfit you wore to the business expo...so cute!

    1. Thank you so much, Jamie!! We certainly have been, and I know you have, too!! I got that skirt at Target, the top at TJ Maxx, and the cardigan at Old Navy, and the shoes were brand new at Goodwill! Love a good bargain find, lol! Have a blessed day! xoxo

  6. I do not even know where to begin! So much to write! I love the new layout! I noticed you changed it up :) I really loved the old one too though... I love those magazines they are the best. I cannot wait for that tutorial on the frame :) I love the oyster one reminds me of that oyster chandalier you found in that one restaurant. & I love the animals you & Brandon both are such lovers of all animals I do believe :)

    1. Yay!! Thank you! I have a hard time with change, so when I do change my layout I really struggle because I want to keep the same colors and general Southern theme. I'm glad you love it! I loved the old one, too, but I just felt like since I had it for over a year it was time to update. I'm still working on that tutorial post, lol! There is so much to post about during the holiday season, but hopefully I will get around to it soon! Bless you for remembering that oyster shell chandelier from the restaurant in Charleston-that was totally my inspiration!! :) You made my day! xoxo

I sure do love hearing from y'all-you make my day!
