Q&A and Other Randomness

First of all, I want to thank ALL of my new followers/friends and subscribers!!
I am always so delighted to hear from you, so if you haven't introduced yourself, please do!
I'm planning on doing my very first giveaway real soon to show my appreciation!

About comments: I really do love hearing from y'all and I always try my very best to respond to each comment as long as time permits. Most days that happens, but some days it doesn't.
That being said, I am always so let down when I go to respond to your comment via email only to see "@noreply-comment.blogger.com."
There are so many of you that I would love to thank and respond to, except I can't when you have your settings so that your email address doesn't show.
I want to encourage you to consider changing that setting...it's just checking one box-very simple!

I get some questions from time to time, some through comments and most through email, so I wanted to take some time and answer some of them for you.
Please know that you can always feel free to ask me questions any time and I will do my best to answer them!
It really makes me feel good when y'all ask me animal questions!
Please know that I take them very seriously and I ask Brandon before I respond to you.
After all, he is the Veterinarian!

The most recent questions have been about fashion/beauty/photography.
Fun fact of the day: I earned my degree in Fashion Merchandising from the University of Georgia!
This dress is London Times brand and I got it at Belk on sale for $14-regular $86!
I'm a bargain shopper through and through.
This blouse is Solitaire brand and I got it at TJ Maxx for $20.
It is seriously one of my favorite pieces of clothing!
The denim capris (I'm a little embarrassed to tell y'all) are Abercrombie & Fitch brand and I got them when I was a sophomore in high school-off the clearance rack, of course.
They are a timeless staple in my wardrobe, obviously, and as long as I can fit in them I'll keep wearing them!
I got the wedge sandals from Target (Xhilaration brand) about 4 years ago, on sale at the end of summer.

My go-to stores are usually TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Target for tops, dresses and shoes.
I have to order all of my jeans and pants from American Eagle and occasionally Old Navy because I'm so tall.
I do not obsess over brands. I wear what I think looks flattering on me. I rarely ever pay full price.
My style is classic and feminine and tailored. Sometimes cowgirl on the farm.
If you see me sporting some off the wall fad, it probably really isn't me or else I'm on my way to a costume party. I've tried to look cute and trendy, but I just end up looking ridiculous.
Even my jewelry is classic. I love pearls and silver-monogrammed, please.
Gold on very rare occasions. Diamonds are good, too. :)

Hair....I have gotten so many hair questions.
Yes, my hair is naturally blond. I know it's a shocker because I am a brown-eyed girl.
I will share a few secrets with you as to how I keep my hair from turning brassy and dirty looking.

1. Use a violet based color depositing shampoo & conditioner at least a few times a week.
2. Whenever I'm out in the sun, I keep a spray bottle mixture on hand with 1 part water, 1 part fresh lemon juice and 1 part peroxide. I spray ONLY the roots of my hair and let the sun do the rest.
In the winter I do this maybe once or twice a week, except I spray it on when I get out of the shower and the I blow-dry my roots. The solution is heat activated.
Be sure to keep the spray bottle stored in a cool, dark place because light exposure deactivates peroxide.
(My sister owns a hair salon and has so graciously shared these tips with me and I've been using them for years.)

{some of the hair products I use}
How do I keep it so soft and shiny?
You should know that my hair is so incredibly fine and rarely ever does it want to hold a curl. It's also very oily naturally, so if I don't wash it every day it looks like I need to have my roots done.
I used to have really thick and wavy hair as a teenager...not sure what happened.
I have always had long hair. It's my security blanket. The style is boring and never changes.
I'm okay with that.

1. I keep several different kinds of shampoo and conditioner in the shower and I try not to use the same one more than two days in a row.
2. I only blow dry my hair when I absolutely have to. When I do, I let it air dry as long as possible, then I just run the dryer over it for 2-3 minutes- unless I'm in a huge hurry and have to dry it all at once. On average, I probably use a blow dryer on my hair 2-3 times per week max.
3. I rarely ever use styling products and tools. I know, that's why my hair is always so flat, but I'd rather it be healthy. I do not even own a flat iron/straightener-no lie. No reason to. My hair is as straight as a stick unless I pull it back while it's wet. Then it's pretty wavy.
On special occasions I use I curling iron. I think it's a 1 or 1 1/2" ceramic Bed Head brand. It's whatever my sister told me to get.
4. Use a natural or soft bristle brush. It does so much less damage that a normal brush.
What kind of camera do I have?
I am a Canon fan. I can't wait until I can get some more lenses for my baby!

I hope I answered some of your questions!! :)

  1. I have a question! It may be a silly one but I can't for the life of me figure it out. How do you respond to comments people leave on your blog? I always want to respond to let people know I see them and appreciate them but I've tried and tried and am still clueless!

  2. Sanford is such a cutie! I have been working on Justin to let me get a black puggie when Wyatt gets a little older. They are so adorable.

I use the Breck kids' detangling spray from Dollar Tree because they have such awesome scents; I have Amazing Apple right now but I like the watermelon one too!

  5. My hair is the same way but really thin. I never blow dry it or flat iron it. I would like to have more volume but I think my hair is too long.

  6. I loved reading this. I don't care about brands, I just wear what's comfortable and what I like. Those places are my fav to shop, too! I used to have thick hair but now it's super fine and I'm not quite sure what happened either. It's strange!
