Relief and Rest

Our weekend was pretty low key I'm happy to say, but that probably doesn't make for a very exciting post for you readers ;). We finally got some temporary relief from the heat wave we've been suffering through down here. And we got some rain-praise the Lord!
Friday evening after work Brandon and a group of people went to see the Harry Potter movie in Savannah. I have not read a single HP book or watched a single HP movie...I know, I'm lame. Maybe I'll get around to it one of these days. While they were at the movies I ran some errands (went to Target, Marshall's, and Kroger). So, everyone got to do something they enjoy :)
I scored a couple of great deals while I was out-end of summer sales are my favorite because summer is my favorite season. I got these Lilly Pulitzer sandals marked down to $25 at Marshall's. Yes, they came with that adorable shrimp printed pink bag. Every year I've anticipated the Miss Trish of Capri for Target shoe line. Most years I've bought almost every style. This year I was highly disappointed in the styles, and apparently so were many others since they still have so many in stock. I did think these black leopard sandals were cute, but I would have never paid full price for them. I got them for $12.48. Good deal to me!
Saturday we got to sleep in. It has been months since we have both slept in. We usually have somewhere to be or Brandon has to work, but thankfully that wasn't this case this weekend. We spent a few hours reading Saturday morning. We like to read together-we take turns reading aloud to each other. It really is romantic-we highly recommend it! We are currently reading The Help, which has been quite entertaining thus far. We can't wait to see the movie, which is coming out in August!
Saturday evening we planned to have a cook out and play some cornhole at our house with the clinic staff. We cooked the meat and everyone brought sides and dessert. It was delicious!

After supper we played cornhole for several hours. The guys backed the trucks up and let the tailgates down so we would have ample seating so we could watch whoever was playing and listen to country music blaring on the radio. It was a good ole redneck kind of night, I guess you could say.

After such a night it was a bit hard to get up early for church, but we did and we made it on time!
We came back home and had leftovers, took naps, read, watered the plants, and read some more. The next thing we knew it was 11:30. Where did the weekend go? Hope y'all had a relaxing weekend, too!
“But now, for a brief moment, the LORD our God has been gracious in leaving us a remnant and giving us a firm place in his sanctuary, and so our God gives light to our eyes and a little relief in our bondage."  Ezra 9:8

  3. So I just found your blog and I absolutely love it! I no longer live in the South, but I adore all things Southern, and so I was attracted to your blog just by the name alone! But I think your honesty about your faith is really awesome, always love to find fellow Christian bloggers! xoxo
