Anniversary Celebration

With Brandon's work schedule and life in general being so hectic lately, we just stayed close by and went to Savannah to celebrate our 5th anniversary. We had a lovely afternoon walking and driving around. We went to Bonaventure Cemetery, the Bethesda Home for Boys, Skidaway Island, and then to historic downtown for a nice dinner and dessert.
Bonaventure cemetery is a must see if you come to Savannah. Portions of the movie "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" were filmed there. The cemetery has beautiful grave stones and sits on a scenic bluff of the Wilmington River.

The Bethesda home for boys is the oldest child caring institute in the country. It's actually older than the US as it was founded in 1740. The campus is breathtaking.

I never grow tired of seeing these trees. It's one of my favorite things about living in Southern Coastal Georgia. I truly believe that when I die and go to heaven it will look like this. Oak alleys like these take my breath away every single time and I have to have several moments of silence to catch it again.
The chapel above on campus is actually the chapel Paula Deen married her husband, Michael Groover, in. So quaint and charming! Paula is a major investor and contributor to the school and has been for years. The home is very near and dear to her heart.
Savannah has a multitude of delicious restaurants and we had a hard time deciding which one to try, but we decided on Garibaldi and were so happy we did. The atmosphere was so romantic and the decor was gorgeous.

We shared a dish called the "Venti," which had lobster tails, crab leg clusters, mussels, shrimp, raw oysters, and freshly made fettuccine alfredo with spinach and mushrooms. It was delicious!!
We shared one small dessert, which was a cinnamon and vanilla bean ice cream with fresh berries, chocolate sauce and sitting in a bowl made of almonds and pecans. It was so good!

We had planned to go on a carriage ride, but it came a terrible storm, so we went to Lulu's Chocolate Bar instead where we shared another decadent dessert.
Lulu's is amazing, by the way. If you come to Savannah you should try it!
We shared the chocolate strawberry suspension cake, and it was divine!!!

I know it was a long post with a lot of pictures, so if you've made it this far you deserve a pat on the back :)
Seriously, we had a wonderful 5th anniversary and we look forward to many more!!
God has truly blessed our marriage and we thank Him each and every day for that.
