Part 1: Saturday in Ellerslie, GA

Friday after Brandon got off work we drove over to Ellerslie, GA (just north of Columbus) to spend the weekend with our best friends and to celebrate the baptism of baby Sam. The weekend is going to be divided into 2 posts, so it's going to be picture overload just to warn you! When we got there Friday night the first thing Brandon noticed when we got there was this disgusting thing. He ( I just refer to all snakes as he's for some stupid reason.) was on top of the front porch door frame and had eaten a bunch of baby birds right out of their nest. It really was heartbreaking. Of course, Brandon and Phil had to play with it as soon as they determined that it was a nonpoisonous rat snake. They used a golf club to get off the door frame and into a cooler from which Phil pulled it out by the tail and swung it around out in the front yard a few times until it broke free and slithered off into the pasture. It makes me cringe just thinking about it. I mean, aren't rat snakes supposed to eat rats and not innocent baby birds? We got up bright and early on Saturday morning to go and watch Charlie's last soccer game of the season. We were happy to get to see him play-he even scored a goal! We got to come to his very first game, so it was neat to get to go to the last one, too. After the game we went back to the house and showered and Meg's parents took us all out to get BBQ for lunch, which was delicious. Then we just spent the afternoon hanging out on the farm. I cut Brandon's hair and trimmed Phil and Charlie's hair, too. Charlie was excited about getting to rinse off in the water hose after his cut until he stripped down and that cold water hit him. Then he screamed for a while. But he got a little cuddle time in return. He also got a cupcake which made him suddenly forget about being cold. Funny how that works. I love how he keeps his pinkie finger up while he eats his cupcake. These pictures just make me laugh. This boy makes me laugh. There is never a dull moment where he is concerned! Then we walked down to the pond and went fishing for a while until Phil got called in on emergency. Poor Phil got 4 calls Saturday night so he didn't get to go out to eat Mexican with us.Brandon letting Charlie throw the fish back into the pond.Playing around in the yard. Look at this sweet boy after getting his bath and lotion for the night. I could just eat him up! We had a great Saturday just spending some quality time and hanging out. 3. Oh, I don't do snakes. How sad about the baby birds! I'm very impressed that you can trim hair! I have to cut Dylan's hair and using his electric razor makes me terribly nervous.

  7. I am so afraid of snakes (here in CA they have green rattle snakes that will actually chase you)!!! It's super sad that he those baby birds (for another side story, when we first moved here there was a birds nest outside our door, one day I opened the door up to let the dogs out and the momma flew away only to knock the nest with her BABY, BABY birds in it and they all ended up dying...it was real sad).

Charlie is so cute and (looks like he's) at such a FUN age. Sam, however is so precious! I just want to kiss those sweet cheeks :D
