Good Food, Vet Med, Superbowl Weekend

Though it has been cold and rainy, I believe Spring is on the way in South Georgia! We got a ton of rain over the past week. Thank goodness it wasn't snow, but still, it made for messy muddy roads. Green grass is starting to pop up, though! And have I ever been so thankful. My seasonal depression is going to get the best of me if I don't see some more signs of life as soon as possible! Thursday night my cousin brought his cat down and Brandon taught him how to neuter it. That went splendidly. I should probably insert here that my cousin wants to be a vet. He is a junior in college and works part-time at a vet clinic, so this was a learning opportunity for him. We don't normally let friends and family help perform surgery on their own animals :)Afterward, we went home and made Rocky Top chicken, one of my specialties! For dessert I made homemade crepes filled with melted chocolate and warm bananas-topped with homemade whipped cream. His 21st birthday was Jan. 20th, and since I went to Columbus to welcome baby Sam that day, we had to post-pone celebrating our b-days. It's not a Birthday if you don't get to blow out candles!Saturday night we were invited to go eat a delicious homemade waffle dinner with the Lewises! I helped Mrs. Lynn in the kitchen since we had three waffle irons running!{Same outfit-different day, I know....yeah, yeah, go on and judge me...}The guys fixing their plates. Mrs. Lynn made strawberry, blueberry, and butter pecan sauces to go on top. We also had cherries, chocolate chips, walnuts, and homemade whipped topping as well. Can you say sugar high?!As if the sugary waffles weren't enough, she had blackberry cobbler and banana pudding for dessert! After the feasting we all settled in to watch Secretariat, which was really great!Brandon was on-call over the weekend, and unfortunately we didn't get a call on Friday or Saturday. But, rest assured, when Sunday morning rolls around we get three calls just in time for church. Needless to say, we spent our Sunday morning and afternoon at the clinic. (And I say unfortunately because if you're going to be on call and be stuck somewhere, you might as well be getting some calls and some $$)Treating a Pom for worms...This poor Chocolate Lab got in a fight and Brandon had to dock his tail. But, we had no interruptions during the Superbowl...about that...our family has always cheered for the Steelers. My dad is a literal fanatic. Here we are on Feb. 5, 2006, when the Steelers beat the Seahawks 21-10 in Superbowl XLOur family celebrating the 27-23 Steelers victory over the Cardinals on Feb. 1, 2009 to win Superbowl XLIII... And me cheering on the Steelers during Superbowl XLV against the Packers hundreds of miles away from my family for the first time ever. I think that's why they lost. We weren't all together. 31-25...ouch. But, last night Brandon made it all better by cooking delicious flat iron steaks. Rare. Yum. And we had homemade pasta to go along with it-more on that later!I hope each of of you sweet friends had yourselves a wonderful weekend, too! Have a great week! xoxo
