Work with Dr. Pinson Day

I got to go to work with Brandon today, which rarely happens during normal working hours-usually just emergency calls. I really enjoy seeing him interact with clients as well as diagnose and treat patients, but my favorite part is going on farm calls with him. The first farm call he had to palpate a cow with excess water in her uterus...then he had to clip calf ears to test them...then he had to chase, I mean tackle some more calves to clip their ears, which was quite a fiasco. They were all in a round pen, which is a disaster to begin with when trying to get calves into a shoot. The other problem was that the calves were able to go under the gates, so we go to the next option... He said, "Are y'all ready to flank these?" I don't think any of us were prepared for what he did next, and I honestly don't think any of the farmers believed he could actually do it because they laughed.. He literally tackled them to the ground and grabbed their feet and flipped them over so he could pin them down while their ears were clipped.I promise there is a calf under there somewhere! Those farmers were awestruck by the time we left. They could not get over Brandon getting down on the ground and flanking those calves. Then we were all laughing. They will probably tell everyone they know about Dr. Pinson wrangling their calves to the ground. He managed to get all of the calves except one, who got out of the pen by squeezing under the gate and taking off. Just an innocent bystander enjoying the show...Remember this emergency call we went on Christmas night? Well, we went back out to check on the horse, remove the bandages and clean up the wound some more.Looking so much better, but is still going to take a while to heal up.Then it was back to the clinic to put a splint/cast on a broken leg...what a day! I'm already looking forward to going with him again on Saturday! Have any of you ever been to work with your spouse or significant other? "Esau asked, “What’s the meaning of all these flocks and herds I met?” “To find favor in your eyes, my lord,” he said." Genesis 33:8

  5. Wow! That's so neat that you can go with him sometimes. I bet he does some really interesting things like tackling the calves! I don't go to my husband's work unless we meet up for lunch. Mainly because he's Air Force and it would be weird and not really acceptable to hang out with him in his office. Plus, I would think it's kind of boring. :)
