St. Simons Island

Sunday the weather was not so great outside. It was rainy, but not too cool-still in the 60s, and we wanted to do something fun with Mama, Tiffany and Brad. There aren't many indoor things to do near the coast, so we had to choose an outdoor activity. We decided to take them to St. Simons Island since they've all done the Savannah tour. We went to Ft. Frederica, downtown near the pier to do some shopping and see the ocean, and to see the lighthouse.Though I've been to St. Simons Island several times, I haven't been to Ft. Frederica since our 7th grade school science trip to Jekyll Island. This visit brought back lots of memories. I can't believe that was 12 years ago! James Edward Oglethorpe was a British general, member of parliament, philanthropist, and founder of the colony of Georgia.eating oranges from the orange tree-they were not sweet and succulent, they were sour and bitterwhere the Battle of Bloody Marsh took placeI am obsessed with these trees!with our Mama :)the clouds over the water were kind of creepy lookingWe were on a time crunch since they all had to drive back up to Dahlonega Sunday night so they could be at work on Monday morning. After we left St. Simons, we took them to eat at our favorite restaurant in Darien, Skipper's. Everyone either had crab cakes or all you can eat shrimp. We had so much fun this week visiting with close family and friends. We so appreciate them all taking the time to come down here and bring the holidays to us. We love each of them so deeply and we can't wait to see you all again! Thank you for a wonderful Christmas and New Years! "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17
