New Year's Day

Happy 2011!! I know this is weird, but I don't get excited about odd number years, or odd numbers in general. I prefer even numbers. I know, I know...say what you will. Anyway, I am sure this year will be very exciting and bring many wonderful memories and experiences just like all of the others! I think everyone here had a rough night after the fireworks display last night. We sat up laughing and talking until about 1:30am, then we started trying to bed down, which took another 30-45 min. with 18 people in the house. Our house has 2 very large bedrooms, and with 18 people it was a challenge. We had a total of 4 air mattresses, 2 hammocks on the porch-thank you God for warm temperatures (it was 75 degrees on NYE and the high is 77 today), the sofa, a queen bed and a king bed. Brandon in his hammock and Anna in the Pawley's Island hammock. Many folks ended up in a different bed than they started out in, but I think everyone got just a little bit of rest. Just enough to go wide open again today. I got up between 8 and 9 and started making another batch of Pioneer Woman's Cinnamon Rolls and 2 large pans of breakfast casserole. I was too busy cooking to take pictures and by the time I finished cooking everyone was too hungry to think about getting a camera. Getting an early start on the collardsWatching the Rose ParadeMy Aunt Sharon, Nana, Aunt Margie, and Mama "Keepin' it Reel"...The men/boys spent the afternoon fishing in our pondBrandon and Josh-I'll admit I would have laughed if one of them had fallen in ;)Not sure what is going on here...but, yes, this would be my husbandLogan and ShadowCourtney doing some dishesSharon making her sweet potato souffleTeaching Courtney and Sarah how to make Key Lime and Lemon Pies. They did an awesome job-I am very proud of them! :) I love cooking with others. The kitchen is a great place to spend time together, make wonderful memories, and learn new things. The tablescape-coastal themed, of courseWe gave everyone a snack size fruit cake sample from the Claxton Fruit Cake Bakery since we are only 5 miles from Claxton-I don't think anyone was too excited about this souvenir...My homemade Macaroni and CheeseMy Aunt Sharon's Sweet Potato SouffleCollard Greens-gotta eat them so you can make some money in 2011!Black-eyed Peasgoing through the food linemy plate :) I know, I eat a lot. I didn't eat most of my ham, though. I don't know why I got that much.I think everyone enjoyed all of the delicious food the entire weekendThe finished Key Lime and Lemon Pies-they were delicious-a great way to end a coastal New Years! I hope y'all ate your own collards and black-eyed peas on New Year's Day!! :) "No, dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven." Philippians 3:13-14

  3. This post made my stomach growl...no lie! I missed lunch and this was just a tease!!

By the way, I totally don't think you are crazy...we had to get married in 2010 because I did NOT want to get married in 2011 since it was an odd numbered year. Our wedding date was 10/2/10...perfectly even! : )
