Getting Ready for New Year's

We had so much to do to prepare for the New Year's festivities at our house this year. Since Brandon has had to work and be on call so much my whole family decided to come down for New Year's so we can ring in the New Year together, plus do our Christmas gift exchange since we didn't get to go home for Christmas. Here are some of the things we had to do to prepare:
{Crossing the Savannah River Bridge on Hwy 17} We drove over to Hardeeville, South Carolina to get fireworks-they are illegal to sell or shoot in the state of Georgia, so we all just go to our neighboring states to get them. Brandon was such a little boy about this entire experience. He has wanted to shoot fireworks like this his entire life and he said his Dad would never let him. Now he is grown and can do it all on his own! I have never seen someone so excited over fireworks!Pick and clean collard greens-yes, we had to put them in a bathtub to clean them because there were so many!prepare the black-eyed peasIt is time to water! I have a slight fascination with large farming irrigation systems...
scrape the driveway (why this had to be done today is beyond me...I think he just wanted an excuse to use the tractor)the horses enjoyed watching him :)We can't wait for everyone to get down here and ring in the New Year together! “Celebrate the Festival of Harvest with the firstfruits of the crops you sow in your field. Celebrate the Festival of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in your crops from the field." Exodus 23:16

  1. My hubby always has to scrape the driveway too! At the most inconvenient times it seems. I think he just likes the quiet time on the tractor too! :)

  2. I did not know that was illegal in Georgia!

  3. I love how excited he was about the fireworks!

New Years Day lunch is one of my favorite lunches :) Yum!

I sure do love hearing from y'all-you make my day!
