Mission Trip Day 1

We left Athens, GA at 5:30 this morning to meet at Dr's Billy and Lee Myers's home to officially leave. We had a prayer circle before leaving and got pulled out of Good Hope, GA at 6:30. Brandon and Sanford drove me to the Myers's to see me off. I cried when we left. I have been dealing with many anxieties about making this trip without Brandon. After we left I quickly learned that 3 other girls on this trip from the UGA group are also married and were leaving their husbands at home for the trip. I think God is at work here...I am already feeling comforted by prayers. It seems to be getting a little easier each hour to be away from home. This trip is not about my comfort zone. It's about sharing Christ's love-the gospel. We drove to Atkins, Arkansas to Bell's Chapel United Methodist Church where we are sleeping on the floor in the sanctuary-this is a first! We took I-20 to Birmingham, then 78 to Memphis, then got on I-40 and traveled through Little Rock and on to Atkins. We got to Atkins between 6 and 7 PM central time where we met up with Dr. John Kruckeburg and his 3 volunteers from Columbia, Tennessee. God is good and we are thankful for traveling mercies.
